Hop on / hop off bus passes
If you dont want the hassle and responsibility of getting your
own vehicle, but want to retain control over the pace that you travel,
a hop on hop off bus pass could be the answer.
They cover all of the main routes and make a point of going off the beaten
track and can be a great way of meeting people (one Travel Nation customer
even met his wife to be on the back seat of one in New Zealand in 2004,
though we cant promise that you will be that lucky !)
Bus passes are usually issued on an 'open dated' basis. 'Minimum duration'
refers to the shortest time that it is possible to complete the route.
When choosing a pass, we would recommend allowing more time than this
in order to travel in a more relaxed style!
Our bus pass rates tend to be cheaper than those available locally,
plus, we bill you in £s so there are no nasty exchange
rate surprises on your credit card !
Buying your bus pass in advance enables you to budget more easily
when you are travelling and you never know, it is the
sort of thing that a kindly relative might buy for you
(Offer only valid to residents of the UK)
First things first, our rates for Australian bus passes are almost always cheaper than rates in Australia for identical passes. The 2 big operators are Oz Experience and Greyhound Australia. Both have passes for set routes (e.g. Start in Sydney, end in Cairns).
For those who want 100% flexibility, Greyhound also have a kilometre passes with no pre set route. You can even use some of the 'kilometre value' of these passes in exchange for local tours (e.g. 3 days camping trip at Ayers Rock) at preferential rates, and to travel on the Indian Pacific rail trip between Perth and Adelaide.
Oz experience are purely a travellers bus network, drop off and pick up from hostels and include some activities such as day trips and bush camps.
If you want advice on which pass or operator will suit you best, please call us on 0845 3444 222. All of the staff at Travel Nation have travelled around Australia and will be happy to help you figure out which is the best one for you.
